The Cheer Gear!

As the Winter Olympics nears, I have been anxiously awaiting to see what Lululemon had in store for the Olympics. If you didn’t know, Lulu is headquartered in Vancouver, BC so I knew that they had to have something great planned to celebrate the Olympics being in Vancouver. I’ve been so anxious that I’ve been asking them what they had planned. They teased me by responding, “We’re all about being involved in our community! :)

Sure enough, they didn’t disappoint. They recently released their “Cheer Gear” line to celebrate the occasion!

And ever since it came out, I have been obsessed with it! I’ve been looking at all of the items online and couldn’t wait to get to my local store to see the items in person.

Over the weekend, I was having dinner on Burlingame Avenue and finally had the chance to drop in to check things out. I don’t know if its a good thing or a bad thing that when I walk into the store, they know who I am. Like really know who I am. Know my name, know what race I’m training for, and ask me how my training’s going. And not only that, a lot of the staff members are training for the same race too! See why I love them so much?!

Well I was utterly disappointed to find that they didn’t have any of the Cheer Gear line in stock. Only select stores, like the one in U-Village in Seattle, have in-store items. While they do have free shipping for online orders, I have a sneaking suspicion that not all items are available online. No offense to Germany and Sweden, but why would they sell items for those countries when they don’t even have stores there? I immediately sent a text message (while in-store) to my cousin Lauren who goes to the University of Washington, asking her to go to U-Village to see if they had any USA items there.

Not able to walk out of Lulu without getting anything, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had the new “Happy Hips” yoga DVD that they featured in week’s promo email. Although no one in the store had tried it yet, they told me that the instructor on the DVD was the very first Lulu ambassador so I decided to get it. He had 2 other DVDs that also piqued my interest, but I decided I need to try one first, before I invest in all of them. I’ll be trying it later this week and will report back on what I think of it.

Even though I’m disappointed about the limited access to the Cheer Gear line, I have to give kudos to the genius Marketing team at Lulu. They have embraced social networking as a way of business. Between their Twitter feed, Facebook groups, weekly Wednesday emails and blog posts (with RSS feed enabled so new posts just show up in my Google Reader), they have turned me into a major Lulu addict and the Cheer Gear line alone has me SO EXCITED for the Vancouver Winter Olympics!

Monday Run

This morning I was scheduled to do a 4-mile run. These days I’m a big wimp and have been doing morning runs indoor on the treadmill. I started to psyche myself up for this run last night and walked into the gym really pumped up for it. It looks like the New Years rush has already died down because there was a whole row of treadmills open. I got on, warmed up for 5 min and then started to run. I wanted to keep a low heart rate so stayed at a 5.5 or 11 min/mile the whole time.

What made the dreadmill more bearable today was that I ran to the music videos that I have on my iPhone. Say what you want about J-Lo and Britney’s music, you can’t deny that their music videos are energizing. They make running feel like dancing – so much fun. And let’s not even talk about motivating…Britney in “I’m A Slave for You”? Just seeing her body in that video makes me want to run for days.

Anyway, back to the run, my Garmin does not work well indoors. It told me that I ran .82 miles when in fact I did the 4 miles as planned. If anyone knows what settings I’m supposed to set it at for indoor workouts, please tell me. I’ve gone through all the settings so many times and just can’t figure it out.

I’m looking forward going to Yoga Tune-up tonight to balance out the run.

Make it a great Monday!

Ha! Totally agree – Britney does wonders for the boring treadmill runs! Her newest song “3″ is awesome for that!! Nice job – 4 miles is tough to do on the treadmill, I managed about 4.5 mi. on Saturday on the treadmill myself and it was brutal, outside the time flies by and you just feel so ALIVE you know??
