Sunday Runday in Tiburon

The one thing I love most about this summer is the evolution of Sunday Rundays. Almost every Sunday has turned into a group run/meet-up + food. It has been a great way to great to see and catch-up with my local bloggy Twitter friends.

This week’s edition of Sunday Runday took us to Karin’s neck of the woods – Tiburon, which is on the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge.

I made the early morning drive up to the City to meet Sandra and Alyssa, then we carpooled to Marin. I must admit, as we drove across the GGB, I half expected monkeys to come flying down on us (I saw that Planet of the Apes flick over the weekend).

The group doing the longer mileage got a head start and had already done 4-miles by the time we met up with them. We each had our own distances and paces to run so we all set out on an out-and-back route.

It was a foggy morning; i.e., perfect running weather, so these photos don’t do the views much justice.

{thanks Alisyn for sharing these photos!}

Tiburon is beautiful and one of my most favorite places in the Bay Area. I don’t make it here as often as I’d like so I was happy today’s run brought us out here.

Personally, I woke up with a bad headache. Althought it went away by the time we started running, I still never fell into a groove and felt comfortable. Thankfully I ran the entire 8 miles with Sandra (who became an ultra-marathoner just one week ago!), which definitely helped pushed me through to completion. Had she not been with me, I very well may not have finished all 8 miles.

After our run, we settled in at a nearby cafe for some post-run grub and chatted for a couple of hours on all things running. It was so much fun to see everyone again and to meet Marjorie, who is running Hood to Coast this weekend with Alyssa and Team Nuun – good luck ladies!

Here are a few outtakes from the day:

Standing L-R: Courtney, Karin, Layla, Alisyn, me, Sandra
Kneeling L-R: Alyssa, Marjorie, Katie

{thanks to the tourist lady from Albuquerque for taking these photos of us}

    You were definitely missed! Too bad we don’t live closer – I don’t have to be at work until 2 pm every day this week so I will be doing my weekly runs a little later in the mornings – if we lived closer, we could’ve run together!
