About Me

I’m a native of Moloka’i, Hawai’i, transplanted to in the San Francisco Bay Area.

My Story

Prior to 2004 I was four sizes larger, 40 lbs heavier, and absolutely hated exercise.

before

I’d circle parking lots, looking for the closest space so I didn’t have to walk the few extra feet to the door. I loved food, didn’t work out, and didn’t have the first clue in how to be healthy. I was also very unhappy.

In January 2004 a new gym opened in my neighborhood so I signed up for a membership and started working with a personal trainer. Little did I know how much a profound influence he would have on my life. He put me through grueling workouts. There were a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but it was the best investment I ever made – an investment in my life.

Since then I have become a sponge, absorbing everything I can about diet, exercise and how to live a healthy life! It’s led a complete lifestyle change. I went from being a sedentary coach potato, to being an active coach potato!

I’ve become an endorphin addict and have taken up swimming, spinning, yoga and running. Lots of running!

Interests

I started this blog back in 2007 to chronicle a 3-week trip to Europe. I like to write so I continued the blog about random things of interest.

Most recently my life has been all about running, marathon training and the things I do to prepare for it.

I’ve learned a lot about myself, accomplishing things I never thought I’d be able to do. I’ve pushed myself to physical limits I never knew I was capable of and discovered a mental toughness I never knew I had.

In addition to the above topics, you may also see posts on:

* Travel – I like to go places
* High Tech – I work in the industry
* Pop Culture – I’m an addict
* My shopaholic tendencies
* Sports – I love the SF Giants
* San Francisco – I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else!

I’m interested in the Mountain View one. Do you know how big of a race it is people wise and if they will mail you your race stuff or if you can pick it up on race day? Keep on blogging!
