A Legendary Summer Weekend

I feel somewhat recovered from last weekend to muster up enough energy to write about it. It started off last Friday with the Legends of Summer concert at Candlestick Park. It was predicted to be one the worst evening commutes in Bay Area history because of the concert and other sporting and musical events going on that evening. In an effort to avoid the congestion we got to the 'Stick at 3:30 pm -- for a 7:30 pm show. And the headliners - Justin Timberlake and Jay Z - didn't even come on stage until 9 pm!

I hadn't listened to the new albums of either artist and I didn't have high expectations for the show. But it turned out to be one of the best concerts I have ever been to. They both played a lot of their old hits that I loved, and seeing them perform them live made me appreciate their talents even more!

It was also my (likely) last time at Candlestick since the 49ers are building a new stadium. I can't say I'll miss it but I did have some good times here. After all, it is the birthplace of my love for the SF Giants! :)

I had a 9-mile run scheduled on Saturday which didn't happen (I did manage to run 6-miles on Sunday though!). I spent much of Saturday recovering from the concert and getting ready for out-of-town guests. My cousins arrived on Saturday night from Washington.

During their four day visit we:

+ Went to a Giants game + Ran up the Moraga Street Stairs + Explored Fort Point at the Golden Gate Bridge + Visited Fishermans Wharf at Ghirardelli Square + And much more!

August will mark 15 years that I've been a Bay Area resident and this was my first visit to the Moraga Stairs and Fort Point. I've run by Fort Point a ton of times but I guess its always been early in the morning, before it opens because I had no idea there was a museum in the building!

On top of all of this I also started private swim lessons.

Needless to say it was a really long weekend+. While I had (as always) so much fun spending time with my family I was definitely ready to get back to my normal routine.

I'm looking forward to (hopefully) an uneventful August.
