An Interview with De

So me and my friend De go way back. Way back. Like to Kaunakakai Elementary School in the mid-80's. We lost touch for a long time but thanks to technology, and social networking sites, we got back in touch a few years ago and now we chat daily! More like hourly!

Its been so great to reconnect as adults and see how we've evolved. We have still have many similar interests - travels, food, philosophies and now she's turned me on to blogging.

We've started doing "group blogs." For this one, we interviewed ourselves using questions from "Inside the Actors' Studio." Here's her answers to the questions:

1) What is your favorite word?

Faith. It implies hope, love, courage, strength, compassion...the absolute best of traits.

2) What is your least favorite word?

CRAZY. Generally, people aren't crazy, they're just creative or unique in their expression. Too often we use this word when we won't take the time to listen or understand someone. In that sense, it's very dismissive and rude.

3) What turns you on?

Independence. I like people who think for themselves and act on it, regardless of what others say or how they react to it. Have you own solid reason for doing something - you can't be happy and please the rest of the world at the same time.

4) What turns you off?

Seeing people or animals suffer or being abused. You can't keep something in an enclosed space where it can't fend for itself or seek the help of others, have it depend on you for its survival and well-being, then mistreat/neglect it because you are too lazy to step up to your responsibilities.I won't even go there with what I think the punishment should be for the crime of child or animal abuse...

5) What sound or noise do you love?

All out laughter. And the sound of the ocean or a running river.

6) What sound or noise do you hate?

Harleys. Sorry! I think they're beautiful motorcycles but they're so damn loud! And it's usually during the best part of a phone conversation or TV show that you'll hear one start up and rev their engine for way too long. Naturally...

7) What is your favorite curse word?

I'd have to say jack ass. I say that one way too much...

8) What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

Professional writer. Or photo journalist. Actually, my first choice would be the host of one of those travel channel shows like the one with Samantha Brown where she gets to stay at 4 star hotels and eat the best foods and pamper herself at the best spas all around the world! How do I sign up??!!

9) What profession would you not like to do?

Anything on that show, Dirtiest Jobs. ewww. OR the job that Andrew Zimmern has - eating the world's most bizarre foods. For the same reason - I have a very sensitive gag reflex.

10) If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

YOU, with your cynicism and wackiness and bullet point lists...there really was a reason for all of it. Come on back, my dear, I got all your answers
