Made with Love...and Butter

I was scheduled to be on PTO the week after the race, and was planning on having a staycation. But when JetBlue had a huge sale I checked the SF Giants schedule and saw that they were scheduled to play the Mets at Citi Field. It only made sense to take advantage of the cheap fare and make the trip to see my team on the road. I love visiting other ballparks and realize I am in the minority when I say I did not really enjoy old Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field. Something to do with the sweltering heat…

So the fact that Citi Field turned out to be “Candlestick cold” made me love it!

{it was so cold we broke down and bought a Mets blanket}

Okay, so maybe not “love”, but I liked it a lot! It is really easy to get to via subway, has a very intimate feel...and the most important factor – it has great food!

If there's one thing you need to know about me is that I love good food. I *appreciate* good food. And boy did I have a lot of it on this trip. I indulged...a lot. After all, hadn’t I just run a whole marathon? Wasn’t I on vacation?

I ate freely, without any worry or guilt...

In fact, one morning, while walking back to the apartment, I passed 4, count 'em FOUR bakeries, and went into every single one. And they were all so good.

Okay, no photos of the food, but we did dine at Cafe Lalo...you know, that restaurant that Meg Ryan is at when Tom Hanks stands her up in You've Got Mail? It's Aunty Delta's favorite movie and we watch it every Christmas so it was kinda neat to visit.

One of the best things I like about New York is that you can get anything delivered to you. Even Pinkberry!

Perfect for a lazy bum like me!

But hands down, the best meal that I had was at the Clinton Street Baking Company.

I mean, who doesn't love breakfast?!

And it wasn't just breakfast, but it was the biscuits -- dear lord, the biscuits were to die for!

They were so good that we ordered extras to take on the road.

Now if I could only figure out a way to have them shipped to San Francisco...

Or I could attempt to make them myself...

...yes, this...
