The Thanksgiving Weekend

I'm winding down the Thanksgiving weekend with a Fat Dog Day... {Def of Fat Dog Day: a day where you have no obligations - no where to be and nothing to do where you can sit around the house in pj's and watch movies, sports, read magazines, sleep and essentially do nothing.}

...and have been playing with Photoshop all morning.

I came up with this fun little graphic for my weekly workout recap.

It looks simple (and very amateur) but it seriously took me at least an hour to make this! There's so much to learn!

All I have to say is that these running workouts are a lot tougher than long runs. They may be short in distance but they're significantly more intense and leave me ten times sorer than double-digit runs!

As for the rest of the Thanksgiving weekend, it went down like this:

Turkey Day Spent with family and friends visiting from Hawai'i.

I contributed the following gluten-free items to the feast:

• Gravy: the first time I ever made gravy! • Stuffing • Dinner Rolls • Pecan Pies • Chocolate Pudding Pie (it came out perfect on the second attempt)

I did accidentally eat something with gluten (the yams) and my stomach (almost immediately) painfully revolted. It was testament that I definitely need to stick with a gluten-free, dairy-free diet.

After dinner we watched football and my friend Mel taught us how to braid hair. That night I slept with my hair braided so I could have wavy hair in the morning.

Black Friday It was my 20th year of spending Thanksgiving in San Francisco, which also meant it was my 20th Black Friday anniversary.

My aunt, cousin and I have made it an annual tradition.

We don't go to Best Buy, Target or all the other stores where the crazy shoppers are; rather we spend the day in downtown San Francisco where it doesn't even get crowded until after lunch!

For us it's not about the sales or discounts, but rather it's about spending the day with each other strolling around the City. It's probably the one day of the year that we get to do this together with no kids or schedule that we have to adhere to.

Part of our routine is having brunch at The Rotunda restaurant in Neiman Marcus - again, the only day of the year we go there.

Now that I'm eating gluten-free I was sad that I couldn't have the chicken consommé or popovers, but my lunch was still delightful!

That evening we met up with the rest of our gang for dinner at Fisherman's Wharf.

Saturday

Saturday was my Black Friday Recovery Day.

I slept in, went to the Farmers Market, then spent some quality time at the track.

I had zero motivation to do this workout; I had to dig deep to find the energy to get it done.

I can't believe Thanksgiving has come and gone...I guess the holiday season is officially upon us!
