There's No Place Like Home

The Giants have won 9 of their last 10 at AT&T Park; the second best home record (second only to that-team-that-must-not-be-named). This morning I read Henry Schulman’s article of Sunday’s game. He published this chart on the starting pitchers’ stats just astounded me:

Two walks in the entire series?! Seriously?!

Now if only we can get a middle-of-the-lineup hitter...

And here goes my tangent (I’m sorry, I can’t help it):

Every Thursday I listen to “The Sabean-Baer-Newcombe Show” on KNBR, hoping to get some inclination of what direction they plan to take the team this season. But all I hear are generic, non-committal remarks. What’s the point of even having a show if you’re not going to say anything interesting? I must give the Razor and Mr. T credit – especially Ralph for not going off on them every week. You know he's restraining himself from an all out tirade.

I hope the G’s keep grinding out wins (because practically every winning game is grind) to force management to do something to keep fans excited about this 2009 season (hint: chics dig the long-ball). The past 3+ seasons have been a miserable blur; but I feel myself getting sucked back into the hype. It feels good to be excited about Giant’s baseball again but I have to brace myself for the let-down that always seems to come at some point during the year (usually around the lack of activity at the trade deadline). I’m not trying to be a downer, just being realistic; its not easy being a Giants’ fan.
