Only 9 weeks left to go in 2011. And only 5 weeks till CIM...
Monday, October 24
AM: 70-minutes on the Bike Trainer
PM: 90-minute Bikram Yoga Class. Ever since Nike (which feels like it was SO LONG ago even though it's only been 2 weeks) my right hip/glute hasn't felt right. I'm pretty sure it’s the old Piriformis problem flaring up again which has been a chronic issue for me. Yoga, particularly the heat from Bikram, relieves a lot of the discomfort. The problem is that the week after Nike, I was only able to go to 2 yoga classes; and since then, it's been bothering me more than usual.
Tuesday, October 25
AM: 60-minute Yin Yoga Class during the lunch hour
PM: 7-mile Speed Workout. This run was significant to me. I haven't been feeling very confident about my running lately but after pep talks from some pretty special friends, this run felt like it was the beginning of a mental breakthrough.
Wednesday, October 26
AM: 60-minute Vinyasa Flow Yoga Class during the lunch hour. I don't care what anyone says; I consider a Vinyasa class to be strength work. It requires so much core strength to be able to hold some of the poses and this was a particularly tough class
PM: 6-mile run. I liked Tuesday's PM run so much I decided to do it again on Wednesday. Only thing is, I forgot and ate junk food all afternoon. Since monitoring what upsets my stomach during running I've become accustomed to eating only certain foods before a run and not within 2 hours of the workout. This was supposed to be an easy run, but my stomach started to act up and I ran faster than I would have liked just to get it over with. It was not a good one.
PM: After my run I had to get some food in me (not the best thing after a GI-distressed run) before my workout with my Trainer. It was my third workout of the day and he could tell I wasn't feeling the greatest so he scaled things back more than he or I would have liked, but it was necessary. We skipped the TRX and just used free weights, kettle bells and my own body weight for lots of planks, squats and lunges.
Thursday, October 27
AM: 70-minutes on the Bike Trainer that never happened. I was too exhausted from Wednesday's triple workout day. I was burnt out and it affected the rest of the week. I will never do another triple workout day again.
PM: 90-minute Bikram Yoga Class. My goal is to always get 4-5 yoga classes in per week and this was my 4th one. I was very happy about it.
Friday, October 28
AM: 6-mile untimed run. I worked from home so had some extra time in the morning that is usually spent getting ready for work and commuting. I wasted an hour of it lying in bed debating with myself about whether to do my scheduled run or not. I was mentally exhausted. So I compromised with myself and left the Garmin at home but still put in 6-miles. It was a pretty fantastic run and I felt much rejuvenated afterward.
Saturday, October 29
Rest Day. Being borderline burnt out I decided to take a 100% recent day. I skipped Saturday yoga and didn't get out of bed until 11 am. While I managed to do some errands, I took the "rest day" to the extreme and skipped Halloween parties and stayed in for the entire day and evening. It was so much needed.
Sunday, October 30
AM: 17-mile run. There is so much I want to say about this run that it probably deserves it's own post. What I will say for now is that this run was tough, but very fulfilling. More to come later.
